New Year’s Eve Wedding at the Hilton Des Moines

March 14, 2021

Catherine and Brad New Year’s Eve wedding in Des Moines, Iowa took place on a sunny day filled with snow. Months leading up to the wedding, there was talk about a different date and trying to navigate if there would be a small ceremony in December followed by a large reception in the spring.  Two weeks before the wedding, the governor opened the state back up and Catherine and Brad decided they wanted to do one wedding and start the new year as a married couple.

The wedding day started at the Hilton Des Moines Downtown Iowa with hair by Jacy Amato, makeup by Ivy Boyd, and mimosas for the gals. The guys hung out in their room sharing drinks and playing card games.

The most emotional moments of the day were when Catherine shared a tearful first look with her dad in the lobby of Hilton, followed by an intimate one with Brad.  The couple and I traveled to the Whistler Studio with her videographer, Drew Menicke, for some bridal portraits and pictures of the couple before we hopped on a trolley with the wedding party for some downtown shots.

The wedding ceremony took place at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral downtown and the reception at the Hilton Des Moines Downtown. Tables were full the most beautiful flowers, designed by Shelly Sarver Designs, and candles and the decor were spot on with the help from Make it Happen Events. The couple, with their family and friends shared heart-felt toasts, and danced into the night with their live band. I was so honored to be part of this New Year’s Eve wedding with Catherine and Brad. It was a wedding day I will never forget!
